Montenegro racists chants: Reaction from the sporting world after England players suffer abuse during Euro 2020 qualifier

Racist chants were directed at England̢۪s players during their 5-1 Euro 2020 qualifier win against Montenegro on Monday.


UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Montenegro with the toughest of sanctions being called for.

It was clear in the closing stages as monkey chants were aimed at Danny Rose following a late tackle which earned him a yellow card.


Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling celebrated his fourth England goal in two games by turning to the Montenegro fans and cupping his ears.















There has been a fierce reaction from the sporting community condemning that actions of the fans and also commending the response of England̢۪s players, particularly Sterling and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
