Philippe Coutinho could be heading back to the Premier League this summer.
The Barcelona playmaker said it was a ‘dream come true’ upon joining the Spanish giants from Liverpool in a Ă‚£142million deal in January 2018.
But Coutinho has failed to show his best form in LaLiga and, according to Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, is now weighing up whether to push for a transfer.
Barca are said to be keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old and are confident he will rediscover the magic that prompted them to splash out a record fee to secure his signature.
Coutinho, though, is claimed to believe a move to another European club could be the best thing for his career, with the Premier League reportedly his preferred destination.
The 46-cap Brazil star established himself as one of the best players in the English top-flight in his five-year spell at Liverpool.
Having joined Liverpool from Inter Milan for Ă‚£8.5m in 2013, Coutinho went on to make 201 appearances for the Merseysiders, scoring 54 goals.
He was twice named the club’s Player of the Year and Jurgen Klopp admitted he ‘tried everything’ to keep Coutinho when Barca came calling.
Coutinho will have a long list of suitors should he become available this summer, with Manchester United likely to lead the race for him.
United are expected to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heavily in the transfer market after appointing him as manager on a permanent basis this week.
They are being heavily linked with a move for Coutinho, both in England and in Spain, as Solskjaer looks to build a squad good enough to challenge for the title once more.
