Marc Overmars has committed his future to Ajax, effectively ruling out the possibility of becoming Arsenal̢۪s new sporting director by signing a new contract with the Dutch club until 2024.
The former Gunner had been linked with a move back to the Premier League club but he will instead remain with Ajax.
The 45-year-old made 143 appearances for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000.
He retired from football in 2009 and has been part of Ajax̢۪s management since 2012.
â€Å“There are still plenty of challenges at Ajax and I’m having a good time here,†Overmars said.
â€Å“We are taking steps with both the youth academy and the first team and we still want to show a lot.â€
