The former Gunner had been linked with a move back to the Premier League club but he will instead remain with Ajax.

The 45-year-old made 143 appearances for Arsenal between 1997 and 2000.

He retired from football in 2009 and has been part of Ajax̢۪s management since 2012.

â€Å“There are still plenty of challenges at Ajax and I’m having a good time here,” Overmars said.

â€Å“We are taking steps with both the youth academy and the first team and we still want to show a lot.”

Arsenal are still looking for a replacement for Sven Mislintat after the recruitment head left in February.

The north London club had been linked with Monchi, who departed as Roma̢۪s director of football earlier this month.

He decided to return to his former club Sevilla, though, and was announced as their sporting director on Sunday.
