Ajax 2-3 Tottenham: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar ‘threw bottle at referee’ after losing Champions League semi-final to Spurs

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar threw a bottle at referee Felix Brych following Ajax’s collapse against Tottenham, it has been claimed.

Lucas Moura’s hat-trick saw Spurs come from two goals down at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Wednesday to set up a Champions League final date with Liverpool next month.

Huntelaar, 35, watched from the bench as Moura slotted home a winner in the dying seconds to stun the home side.

And Dutch commentator Jeroen Elshoff claims he saw Huntelaar act out when the final whistle went.

He is quoted by Soccer News telling a Dutch podcast: “I have seen Huntelaar throw a water bottle at the referee, I think that hasn’t even been on TV.

“I think he felt that too much injury-time was added to that injury-time, which was wrong, by the way: [goalkeeper] Andre Onana did that himself by stretching time in injury time.”

Tottenham’s heroics ended a superb run in the Champions League for Ajax, who had knocked out holders Real Madrid and Juventus earlier in the competition.
