The woeful misses by Ronnie Rosenthal, Nwankwo Kanu and Fernando Torres have arguably been eclipsed by Paris Saint-Germain’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The former Stoke man, who somehow got a move to the French giants last summer, managed to inadvertently divert the ball away from goal despite being on the goalline!
Yes, you read that correctly, Choupo-Moting literally missed from centimetres out.
It all started so well for him, however when he opened the scoring for PSG in their Ligue 1 encounter at home to Strasbourg.
The visitors levelled the game but no matter, PSG were on the attack on 27 minutes and the ball was heading towards goal before the unthinkable happened.

In an attempt to help Christopher Nkunku’s chipped effort in, Choupo-Moting managed to actually stop it on the goalline before a very grateful Strasbourg defender cleared the ball away.
PSG then found themselves 2-1 down at the break thanks to Anthony Goncalves’ powerful effort.
Thilo Kehrer made it 2-2 in the second-half but PSG were unable to find the winner and thus the chance to wrap up the French title with eight game to spare.
Below you can see the clip of the truly awful miss which will be played again and again for years to come.
