Conor McGregor insisted Zlatan Ibrahimovic is trying to be “the Conor McGregor of football†rather than the other way around.
The LA Galaxy superstar previously claimed the UFC star was the “Ibrahimovic of the Martial Arts worldâ€.
And in an interview with FIFA.com, The Irishman said he has great respect for Zlatan and even invited him to train with him.
He said: “I respect Zlatan and his positive-winning-mentality mindset, but let’s get this straight: there is only one Conor McGregor!
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is trying to be the Conor McGregor of football – good luck to him. Zlatan and Paul Pogba are welcome to come and train with me whenever they like,” the Manchester United fan added.
Ibrahimovcic. who played for United as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, is already well-versed in the martial arts world.
He has a black belt in Taekwondo and also has not ruled out a career change top MMA.
“I would need six months and I would be ready. Six months of training and I could go into martial arts,” he has previously said.
If you needed any more proof of the striker’s credentials then you just need to watch his ‘karate kick’ goal scored in the MLS.
Cristiano Ronaldo has previously visited McGregor’s training camp in 2016, ahead of his second Nate Diaz fight.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion said Ronaldo’s dedication to being the best on the planet is inspiring and cited his magnificent Champions League hat-trick for Juventus as a recent example.
