And, on Friday, England got off to a great start in their Euro 2020 qualification group with a 5-0 rout over the Czech Republic.

While facing a side like Montenegro away from home has tended to cause some England fans to turn away in their droves, Southgate’s policy of picking youth has brought exuberance and excitement back to the national side.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi started the game at the Podgorica City Stadium, despite never having started a Premier League game for the Blues.

But Hudson-Odoi became the second youngest male player to start a competitive match for England at the age of 18 years and 138 days.

Marcelo Bielsa may have a rough demeanour, but the Leeds United boss proved even he is susceptible to a mistake or two.

Speaking after the incredible draw with Aston Villa at Elland Road, the Argentine’s attention turned to the final game of the Championship season on Sunday.

The Whites travel to Portman Road to face relegated Ipswich Town knowing that automatic promotion is now beyond them. With Sheffield United and Norwich City already up, the Play-Offs await the man known as ‘El Loco’.

However, trying to pronounce ‘Ipswich’ proved to be a tad difficult for the 63-year-old. Despite help from his translator and several attempts, Bielsa eventually gave up trying to say the name and the results are hilarious.

Given how strenuous Sunday afternoon was for the former Marseille manager, fans will surely excuse his tiny mistake.

Check out the footage from Sporting Life Football below!

Leeds allowed Aston Villa to score an uncontested equaliser after a brawl broke out following the Whites’ opener during the 1-1 draw in Yorkshire.

Bielsa ordered his players to allow Albert Adomah a free shot on goal as Mateusz Klich scored for Leeds despite Jonathan Kodjia, the Villa forward, going down injured.

The Leeds boss was praised for his decision to favour good sportsmanship over three precious points, even though it ended Leeds̢۪ hopes of securing automatic promotion this season.

The Whites will instead face the play-offs, with Villa a potential opponent of theirs in the race for a place in the Premier League.

Rob Elliot: Newcastle goalkeeper receives death threats over injury to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah… despite not even playing against Reds

Football can evoke passion and emotion like no other sport, but sometimes fans get so caught up in the moment they overstep the mark.

This appears to have been the case in a recent incident concerning Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and the injury he suffered against Newcastle.

Salah was involved in an accidental collision with Martin Dubravka, the Magpies goalkeeper, in the second half of Liverpool̢۪s 3-2 victory over Newcastle last Saturday.

Salah was forced off the pitch after suffering his injury

Salah was forced off the pitch after suffering his injury

The Liverpool star sustained a concussion as a result of the clash, which meant he missed the Reds’ stunning comeback win over Barcelona in the Champions League.

It was expected Liverpool would lose to Barca given they were without Salah, as well as fellow forward Roberto Firmino, and fans were annoyed the collision against Newcastle ruled the Egypt international out Tuesday’s match.

Some ‘supporters’ took it too far, though, by sending death threats to a Newcastle goalkeeper in the wake of Salah’s injury.

However, the glovesman they sent the sinister threats to was not Dubravka, the man who collided with Salah – but instead backup keeper Rob Elliot.

The former Charlton goalkeeper shared a post on Instagram showing multiple messages he received in the wake of Salah’s collision – with one individual threatening to kill him.

Fans of Elliot, 33, replied with messages of support, laughing at the keyboard warriors for their inability to distinguish between Elliot and Dubravka.

The latter spoke of his concern at seeing Salah stricken on the pitch after their collision, saying he was only focused on catching the ball.

â€Å“I didn’t hit him with my hand, I didn’t punch him,” Dubravka said. â€Å“It might have been my hip.

According to Football Insider, the 38-year-old is looking to sign Ryan Kent on loan for another season.

However, the ex-Liverpool skipper faces a battle in his attempt to lure Kent to his side for a second season, with a number of Premier League clubs also reportedly keen on the youngster.

The report also states that Rangers are also keeping an eye on Liverpool youngsters Ben Woodburn and Curtis Jones, but Gerrard knows that he acquiring all three players will be difficult.

Hougang profit as rivals slip up

Hougang United enhanced their Singapore Premier League title credentials yesterday and closed the gap with leaders Brunei DPMM to just two points, with an emphatic 4-2 beating of title holders Albirex Niigata.

The Cheetahs were the big winners on a busy evening of four fixtures, with DPMM and fellow title hopefuls Tampines Rovers dropping points.
DPMM were held to a goal-less draw by the Young Lions in Bandar Seri Begawan. The Bruneian side still sit atop the table with 17 points from seven games.
Tampines dropped points for a fourth straight game, after drawing 1-1 with struggling Warriors FC at the Jurong East Stadium.
Last night's results set up a mouthwatering top-of-the-table clash between DPMM and Hougang in Bandar Seri Begawan on Sunday.
Cheetahs coach Clement Teo was still not completely satisfied despite the handsome win.
"I'm not happy with the goal we conceded, but I cannot take anything away from the boys," he said. "Overall they did well, and played according to instructions."

A first-half brace by forward Faris Ramli, 26, set the tone for Hougang at the Jalan Besar Stadium. He opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a clinical finish, before stealing in behind the Albirex defence and coolly slotting home his second in the 29th minute.
A first league goal for rookie midfielder Nikesh Singh, 20, in the 56th minute then extended Hougang's lead, before Daizo Horikoshi pulled one back for Albirex in the 68th minute. But any hope of a White Swans comeback was extinguished just two minutes later, when Shahfiq Ghani restored Hougang's three-goal advantage after finishing off a counter-attack.
An added-time goal by Yoshikatsu Hiraga was scant consolation for Albirex, who have lost twice in the league this season. The Japanese team went undefeated last term en route to a third straight league championship.
A new league rule has meant that for this term, Albirex have to sign at least four Singaporean players, with at least two of them starting and playing the entire first half.
Faris, who is Hougang's top scorer with six goals this term, said: "We're getting closer to the top of the table but we must take each game as it comes. We have a lot more to improve as a team and as individuals, but we are determined to finish the first round (first eight games) on top, so it will be a great game against DPMM next."
At Jurong East, Warriors picked up their first point of the season after holding Tampines to a 1-1 draw. The Stags led through Shahdan Sulaiman's superb free kick in the 23rd minute, only to be pegged back after Sahil Suhaimi pounced on a goalkeeping mistake to equalise for Warriors, who had lost their first five games of the season.
Tampines, touted as one of the favourites for this year's title, have now drawn three and lost one of their last four games after winning their first three.
At the Bishan Stadium, Home United interim coach Noh Rahman got off to a winning start as his side beat Geylang International 3-0, thanks to goals from Australian striker Oliver Puflett (two) and Adam Swandi.

Messi needs 30 goals if he is to equal his best goal haul for a single season, after notching an incredible 73 times in 60 games during the 2011/12 campaign.

Messi has already levelled his tally from the 2013/14 and 2015/16 season – and could even reach 60 goals in one season for the third time in his career.

Although it would surely take an exorbitant sum to prise Pogba away from Old Trafford for a second time, Los Blancos have a history of getting the stars they want.

And the lure of playing for Zidane could well be the added incentive for a modern footballer.

The Frenchman added: “He [Pogba] is not part of my squad, he plays at United and what he’s said about Real Madrid and his desire to come here, if one day he gets the chance when he wants to leave United….if, when he finishes his experience at United, he wants to come here, why shouldn’t he come to Real Madrid?”

Women’s World Cup 2019: Who are the Lionesses’ superstars to watch out for in France?

Women’s World Cup 2019: Who are the Lionesses’ superstars to watch out for in France?

England’s preparations for the Women’s World Cup are nearly finished and there is a real optimism that Phil Neville’s side can achieve something great in the tournament.

The Lionesses triumphed in the SheBelieves Cup in the United States, winning the competition ahead of the hosts, who are ranked No.1 in the world.

Neville’s side have a great chance at the World Cup

England finished third at the last World Cup in 2015, and, despite the absence of key midfielder Jordan Nobbs, the team is littered with a number of talented stars.

But who are the key players in the side? talkSPORT.com has given our verdict…

Keira Walsh

Walsh enjoyed a fine season in the holding midfield role for Man City as they finished runners up in the league.

She has been an assured presence in front of the defence and even chipped in with one goal and five assists in 19 appearances –  a decent return for a defensive minded player.

The 22-year-old made her debut for England in a World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in 2017 and has since emerged as one of Neville’s most important players.

Nobbs, speaking to Sky Sports, has admitted Walsh’s passing ability will be crucial to how England fare in the competition.

“The way that we want to play, we need that midfielder who can make passes long and short. She created a goal for Beth Mead in the SheBelieves Cup with a 40-yard diagonal.

“We need players to step up and she has been one of those players. I hope I can play alongside her in the years to come.”

Nikita Parris

Parris has risen to be one of the most prolific strikers in the women’s game and she spearheaded Manchester City to victory in both domestic major cup competitions this term.

The 25-year-old scored a stunning 19 goals in 19 games in a stellar campaign in the league.

She has also been snapped up by the Lyon – the current Champions League holders after thrashing Barcelona – and her confidence should be sky high after securing that move.

Parris goes into the tournament in good nick, too, having scored in the SheBelieves Cup and in the warm-up game against Denmark.

Beth Mead

Mead is another who has come on leaps and bounds under Neville’s management and she was another player who was very impressive in the SheBelieves Cup.

It was the 24-year-old’s wonderstrike that saw England overcome Brazil and she hit the back of the net against Japan too.

Before Mead moved to Arsenal, she was a prolific striker for Sunderland but she is also hugely versatile, having featured mainly on the wing under Neville.

Alongside Parris up front, the duo can be lethal in attack for the Lionesses at this World Cup.

Lucy Bronze

If England are to go all the way in France it’s likely the Lyon ace will be a key factor.

She was the heiress to Alex Scott’s role at right-back and has gone on to become one of the world’s finest in her position, while Lionesses boss Neville has taken to playing her in midfield too, such is her exceptional quality.

Since moving to Lyon she’s added more trophies to her already impressive haul with Liverpool and Manchester City.

As well as three Women’s Super Leagues, she’s now got two French league titles under her belt and won the Champions League twice.

Don’t be surprised if she pops up with a goal or two either. In the 2015 World Cup she netted against Canada and Norway, while she was shortlisted for the Golden Ball at the tournament too.

Steph Houghton

“We’ve got a real mix of experience and talent at the World Cup,” says talkSPORT’s World Cup reporter Faye Carruthers.

“Houghton (105 caps) is the captain and has a wealth of experience behind her given that she’s the Manchester City captain, too. She’s a central defender, so her marshalling of everyone and influence on the pitch is really important.”

A warrior on the pitch, Houghton is one of the Lionesses many history makers and in October 2014 was the first woman to be on the cover of Shoot Magazine, a huge step for the women’s game which now regularly features in the publication and other similar titles.

The 31-year-old has 11 major domestic trophies to her name, while she has been a standout performer in England’s success in recent years.

Watch out for set-pieces, she may be a centre-back but she’s got a great free-kick on her – as she showed against America in the SheBelieves Cup.

England v Scotland: TV channel, live stream, kick-off time and team news for Women's World Cup clash

Fran Kirby

Hailed ‘Mini Messi’ at the 2015 World Cup by then-manager Mark Sampson, Kirby has gone onto big things with Chelsea.

At the last tournament injury curtailed her campaign as she was ruled out from the quarter-finals onwards, unable to help her team-mates who eventually finished third.

Kirby celebrates her goal against Brazil in October

This time out, with two stunning domestic seasons under her belt, she’s likely to play a big role for the Lionesses with her current boss also lavishing praise on her.

After watching his side beat Brazil last October he claimed he’s rather have her in his team than six-time Player of the Year Marta.

“I’d take my No 10 over Brazil’s No 10, that’s for sure,” he said.

“I don’t think Fran realises how much she can keep going, she doesn’t realise her full potential yet.”

If she can focus in France then the World Cup may well be coming home.
