Tony Cascarino has blasted Gillingham chairman Paul Scally for the decision to sack Steve Lovell.
In an extraordinary rant about his former club, the talkSPORT host labelled the move ‘disgraceful’ and ‘embarrassing’.
Lovell was relieved of his duties on Friday despite successfully guiding Gils to the safety of 12th in League One.
The 58-year-old had only been in charge for 18 months and won 32 of his 92 games as manager.
Cascarino said: “The decision to sack Steve Lovell is disgraceful and embarrassing for Gillingham and their fans.

“I know Paul Scally and I’ve spoken to him on numerous occasions, but I hope the fans give it to him today and let him know exactly how I feel.
“He’s got them to 13th in the league under very difficult circumstances.
“I spoke to Paul at a game and he said, ‘The answer was under my nose, it was Steve Lovell’. That’s gone quickly.
“He would know how difficult it’s been for Steve. I consider Gillingham my first love because it’s the first club I played for.
“I’m embarrassed for my club that they would do something like this.
“I think Paul’s decision is totally out of order.â€
